I had a wonderful stay at the Village Hotel Edinburgh, with a fantastic self-check-in experience and a cozy room that had a lovely atmosphere. The location made it easy for us to explore the city, and the breakfast selection was impressive. Everything was smooth from check-in to check-out, but I wish we had made better use of the complimentary drink voucher that was left in our room.

7.0/10

The hotel provided a clean and tidy environment, and the club rooms were quite comfortable for our stay. The location is very convenient for getting into the city center, but the dining experience was overshadowed by high prices and limited menu options. Additionally, issues with the fitness facilities were disappointing, but the friendly staff did enhance our overall experience.

The breakfast had a nice selection, but some items felt overpriced, and we faced delays in service when requesting gluten-free options.

I had a disappointing spa day experience. The reception areas of the hotel were nice, but the lack of clear signage led to confusion. While my spa treatments were enjoyable, the staff seemed absent and I felt rushed. On top of that, the extra charges for items like robes and fries felt excessive considering the overall service quality. I wouldn't consider returning.

Rooms
5.0
The spa areas were well-designed but poorly staffed, and I had to seek guidance repeatedly.
Service
5.0
Staff were available but seemed uncoordinated and unsure about handling our needs, leading to a frustrating experience.
Location

The hotel is situated in a pleasant area, though access to the spa was unclear and could have been better signposted.
Dining

Lunch was limited to sandwiches and soft drinks, and the additional charges for fries felt inappropriate given the quality.
Facilities

The spa facilities had potential, with nice treatment options, but the execution fell short due to staffing issues.

I had mixed feelings about my stay at the Village Hotel Edinburgh. The reception staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful, which set a positive tone for my visit. However, I was really disappointed to find the pool and health facilities were closed for maintenance, especially since I chose this hotel partly for those amenities. The dining experience was also underwhelming, with slow service and a soggy club sandwich. The hotel is conveniently located with easy bus access to the city center, but the room cleanliness left much to be desired.

Rooms
5.0
The room was well equipped but didn't look clean upon arrival, with hairs in the shower and dust on the floor.
Service

The reception was friendly, but the dining service was poorly handled with long wait times and no apologies.

The hotel's location is decent with frequent bus services to the city center, making it easy to get around.
Dining

The dining experience was disappointing; my meal was overpriced and not very enjoyable.
Facilities

While the pool and spa facilities were good when open, they were disappointing as they were unavailable during my stay.

6.4/10

I had a decent stay at the hotel overall. The location was convenient, being close to local attractions, and the rooms were clean with some nice features. However, the dining experience left something to be desired, with service issues during meal times, which was frustrating. The facilities could also use some attention, especially the pool area, which was enjoyable but not without issues.

Rooms
7.0
The room was spacious and featured nice touches like a coffee maker and Sky TV. However, I found the bed was not made properly during one of the housekeeping visits, which was disappointing.
Service
6.0
The staff was friendly and tried to be helpful, but there were some lapses in communication, particularly when I raised issues about my room service.
Location
8.0
The hotel's location was great for my needs, allowing easy access to local attractions and key areas, which I appreciated.
Dining
5.0
The dining experience was chaotic, especially when ordering through the app. My main was served before my starter, which led to a series of mix-ups during the meal.
Facilities
6.0
The pool area was nice, but the jacuzzi was out of order during my stay, and the sauna was also down, which was disappointing, especially given the family-friendly appeal of the hotel.
